Before our annual August summer break* comes one of the most anticipated and hot topic in our monthly event for IT Pros by IT Pros, scheduled to take place Tue 1. July 2008 in Zurich.
Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Release Candidate 0 (RC0) is now available for TechNet Subscribers so its a good time to look at what's new! If you were around when SQL Server 2005 launched, you would have been overwhelmed with the new features and enhancements that were presented there, and this version stays true to the relative awe and wonder of its predecessor.
* like everyone else the volunteers all need a break too you know :-)

Abstract: Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Release Candidate 0 (RC0) is now available for TechNet Subscribers so its a good time to look at what's new! If you were around when SQL Server 2005 Launched, you would have been overwhelmed with the new features and enhancements that were presented there, and this version stays true to the relative awe and wonder of its predecessor. Backup Compression, Change Data Capture, Data Compression, Enhanced Database Mirroring, Hot Pluggable CPU support, IIS Agnostic RS, MERGE Statements, New Index Types, Partition Table Parallelism, Performance Data Collection, Resource Governor, Scale-out Analysis Services, Transparent Data Encryption!!! Just to name a few. This is an excellent opportunity to be introduced to some of these new features many months before its official launch, prioritized by my favourites.
